Bringing home pollen!
When I went out first thing this morning (ah, who am I kidding, it was 9:30), I was thrilled to see a lot of bees returning to Hive 1 loaded up with pollen! I take this to mean that they are satisfied with the home I’ve provided and are going to fill the pantry? I tried to take a short video…it’s hard to get a good close-up. This is the best I could do. You’ll notice a bee fly in towards the hive entrance, and when it lands on the landing board, if you look closely you can see the bright yellow pollen “baskets” on the rear legs. They look like little yellow saddlebags. Here’s a better image I got from the web, followed by my video. Cool!
This is so neat! Glad you started a blog to document it all!
We’ve only had the bees for a few days and already I can’t wait to see what they’re doing each day! I’m definitely still in the honeymoon phase 😉 Wow. I didn’t even make that pun on purpose!
Thanks for following along!
You need a bee cam.
